How can we help you?

The Altalks Academy user guide, as questions and answers: account, enrolment, lessons, sessions, app, live sessions and trainer space.

Discover the platform

What is Altalks Academy?

Altalks Academy is Alternative Talks' training platform. Teachers, practitioners and experts offer online, on-site or hybrid courses, with structured lessons, graded practical work, live sessions and verifiable certificates. It works in French, Arabic and English, on computer and phone alike.

Are courses paid?

There are three kinds of courses: free (open enrolment), paid (the price is shown on the course page) and private (reserved for a group, such as a class: you enrol with the QR code or link given by the teacher). A course's detailed programme is only visible once you are enrolled.

Can I see the platform before signing up?

Yes. Two illustrated journeys show, screen by screen, what each user experiences: the student journey and the trainer journey. The public media library and live sessions are open to everyone too. A demo account is given to testers by invitation.

Account and sign-in

How do I create my account?

Your email address is enough. On the Sign-up page (or by scanning a course QR code), enter your address and accept the processing of your data. You receive a link valid for 24 hours: it confirms your address, creates your account and signs you in. You can complete the rest of your profile later.

I did not receive the link: what should I do?

Check your junk or promotions folder. The link is only valid for 24 hours: if it has expired, enter your address again on the Sign-up page. To prevent abuse, only a few emails can be sent per hour to the same address.

How do I sign in again? Do I need a password?

No. To sign in again, enter your address on the Sign-up page: you receive a new sign-in link. If you have set a password in your profile, you can also use it with the "Sign in" button. On a phone, the installed app keeps you signed in.

How do I change the language?

The selector at the top of every page (FR, ع, EN) switches the whole site to French, Arabic or English. A course's content stays in the language chosen by its teacher.

What happens to my personal data?

It is only used for your training: enrolment, follow-up, grades, certificate and notifications. It is processed in accordance with Moroccan law 09-08 and is neither sold nor transferred. To view, correct or request deletion of your data, write to us at the address shown at the bottom of the page.

Students: enrol and learn

My teacher shows a QR code: how do I enrol?

Point your phone's camera at the code (or tap the shared link): the course sign-up page opens. Enter your email address, open the link you receive, and your request goes to the teacher. As soon as they approve it, in class or remotely, you are notified and the programme opens.

How do I pay for a course?

On the course page, click "Order": you receive the order reference and payment instructions by email (bank transfer or on site). To pay by card, click "Pay by card": a secure payment link is sent to you by email. A promo code is added before ordering. Your access opens as soon as payment is confirmed; your orders are in "My space → My orders".

How does a lesson work?

Every lesson follows the same steps, shown at the top of the page: an ungraded entry test, the lesson (slides, article, video or podcast), downloadable deliverables, a game and a practical exercise, then the assessment quiz. Each chapter ends with a group presentation. Some steps may be missing depending on the course. The "Pick up where you left off" button takes you back to the right place.

How do I submit practical work or a presentation?

From the lesson's "Practice" step (or "Presentation" at the end of the chapter), upload your file. The teacher grades it with a rubric: you receive a notification with the grade and their comment. The "To do" list in your space reminds you of what is left to submit.

I can only see the lesson summary: is that normal?

Yes. Your teacher publishes the course as sessions go by: the lesson summary (objectives and outline) first, often before the session, then the slides, article, quiz and practical work. You are notified each time a new step opens; upcoming steps are marked "Coming soon".

Can I listen to the lesson or watch the video full size?

Yes. On the "Lesson" step, the side column (top of the page on a phone) offers: the explainer video, watched in the page or with "Enlarge"; "Listen to the lesson", which reads the article aloud and highlights the paragraph being read, with a speed setting (or the teacher's audio recording if one is attached); and PDF downloads: summary, full lesson, slides. After reading, move on to the practical work.

How do I get my certificate and have it verified?

Once the course assessments are validated, the certificate is issued in your name in "My space → Grades and certificates", ready to download or print. It carries a QR code and a number: anyone can check it is genuine on the Verify a certificate page.

How do I write and upload my research paper?

After the practical work, the "Research" step asks for a short article in your own words: a 150 to 250-word summary at the top, what you understood with examples, at least two reliable sources, then your own analysis. Upload a PDF or Word file, or paste your text. Claude, the platform's AI assistant, suggests a mark out of 20 using the grid shown and checks whether the text looks AI-generated; your teacher reviews and approves the grading, and you are notified. Write in your own words: AI-generated text is sent back for rework.

How do I contact my teacher?

In "My space → Messages", write directly to your course teacher. You are notified when they reply. For a question during a live session, you can also use the live chat.

On-site sessions

How do I know whether the on-site session is taking place?

A few days before each session (Monday for a Wednesday class), the teacher confirms or cancels it. You are notified immediately, with their message if any. The "Agenda" tab in your space shows upcoming sessions, their location and status.

What about public holidays?

Public holidays are removed from the calendar automatically: no session is scheduled on those days, and they are shown as such in your agenda.

App and notifications

How do I install the app on my phone?

Once signed in, a banner offers to install the app, without going through an app store. On Android (Chrome), tap "Install". On iPhone (Safari), tap Share then "Add to Home Screen". The Altalks Academy icon then appears with your other apps.

How do I get notifications?

Allow notifications when the app asks (on iPhone, the app must first be installed on the home screen). You are then notified of enrolment approvals, confirmed or cancelled sessions, live sessions, grades and messages. All your notifications also stay in "My space → Notifications".

How do I publish one lesson at a time?

In "Trainer space → Publishing lessons", choose progressive publishing for your course (indicating the lessons already given, which stay online). For each lesson, "Publish now" or "Schedule" publishes the summary (objectives and outline), for example on Monday for a Wednesday session; you then open the entry test, the lesson (article, video, audio), the practical work, the research paper, then the quiz, immediately or on a scheduled date. Learners are notified every time something is published.

How does AI grading of research papers work?

As soon as a learner uploads a paper, Claude grades it using the platform's API key: a mark for each grid criterion (summary, understanding, writing, sources, analysis), whether the summary is present, strengths and areas to improve, and an AI-writing indicator as a percentage, with the passages that explain it. In "Work and presentations → Research papers" you see the suggested mark and the indicator; "Accept the grading" saves the mark and comment and notifies the learner, "Accept and ask for a new version" sends it back for rework. You can also adjust the pre-filled grid. The AI indicator is never proof: if in doubt, talk to the learner.
